What would life be like if humans had a super assistant like ChatGPT?

Hey! Our dream has come true, a free assistant by our side.

If someone could help us solve all the trivial matters, wouldn’t that be a completely different dream? What would life be like without having to deal with the mundane?

Looking around, most things require administration, paperwork, organization, and translation, but these things can be solved by an AI assistant, a big shot named Open AI, who serves billions of people. There’s no manpower issue, only memory and performance issues. He can analyze financial reports, provide real-time translations, help you write love letters, resumes, social media posts, program, and analyze data. Wow! This is like a dream come true. We are like a CEO with a personal assistant who helps us solve problems. It’s like a sci-fi movie.

But after calming down, it’s hard to imagine how many jobs would be replaced by this kind of technology, and how quickly these jobs will be replaced. However, experts will come out to calm the reports, and say that communication and soft skills cannot be replaced. But for companies that pursue productivity, how could they miss this great opportunity to save time and money?

Although I have concerns about this, I have been using ChatGPT every day to teach me how to code and translate articles. At first, I was very happy to use it, but the more I use it, the more worried I become. It’s just too good, almost too amazing, making me wonder if I will become just a person who gives commands, and if I will still have the intuition to integrate and structure ideas.

In order to save time, I can’t worry about these things anymore and I continue to ask him several questions a day. But without thinking, if this super assistant is so useful, and free, and available to everyone, are we all becoming more capable? Where will our innate competitive nature go?

Challenges and Changes for Humanity

1.The Status of Schools is Being Challenged

Although the acquisition of knowledge is no longer a problem with the prevalence of internet knowledge YouTubers, teachers have become important role models for character guidance rather than just knowledge conveyance.

However, with ChatGPT providing quick and concise information and conclusions, students can produce different results by simply inputting different variables in their reports and projects. Writing is no longer a matter of students needing to write word by word. How should schools adapt to this?

Perhaps in the future, the time and length of schooling may be reduced, and universities may become global universities. Perhaps AI will also become a course provider for our education.

2. Self-discipline and Autonomous Brain Training to Avoid Becoming Stupid

Because of the existence of a super assistant, we will become accustomed to giving commands rather than thinking for ourselves.

But it’s obvious that this will make us stupid. With such a good tool in front of us, how can we produce high-quality and differentiated outputs?

Human wisdom is still necessary, but everyone wants it to be a little easier. Therefore, in the future, self-disciplined people will become “people who are better at thinking” because opportunities to use our brains will become fewer, and we will have to train our brains proactively on our own.

3. Companies Reconsider How to Use People (Ethical Considerations)

Companies will face the question of whether to lay off employees who are no longer needed, such as customer service staff, translators, and administrative data processors. Should they hire fewer people?

Can those who handle miscellaneous tasks become people who only need to give commands? How should the differences in the abilities of these people be defined? This will significantly test our positions in the workplace and the direction of our learning.

4. Cross-language communication is no longer a problem.

The language abilities of AI are unprecedented, having been trained on a vast amount of native language data. Real-time translation will become the norm, and we will no longer have to rely on our own language abilities to communicate with people from other countries in meetings or in letters.

With the assistance of super assistants, the world will become more mobile and our abilities will be more closely aligned.

5. The unknown ethics of AI.

To prevent the possibility of AI making mistakes or subtly influencing humans over many years, we need to invest more resources (engineers) to counterbalance AI. It will also be a human challenge to figure out how to coexist with AI in a positive way.

6. Your abilities are not so different from others anymore.

In the past, the ability to integrate and communicate was seen as a skill that made job seekers stand out. However, in the future, with the assistance of super assistants, our ability gaps will become much smaller. Smart people may not appear as smart at work, and ordinary people may not appear as ordinary.

We will not be so different in the workplace anymore, which might lead to a lack of motivation to work hard.

7. Redefining the value and job titles of office workers.

The time it takes to use our own brains to produce and integrate information is too slow. In the future, being someone who is good at giving commands may result in a change in our job titles.

For example, will there be a job title for managing ChatGPT users, such as “ChatGPT manager” or “ChatGPT operator”? We need to consider how we will adapt to these changes and when they will happen.

Negative thoughts about AI

Thinking about the future, besides the possibility of unemployment, I might become dumber or constantly trust the information given by AI without verifying it. There will be more fake news, a changing society, fast-moving culture and information.

It’s depressing to think that we can’t keep up with this super machine. Not to mention, if we become unemployed, what kind of people will this society need in the future? Additionally, if everyone uses AI to do things, will there be any difference in the quality of work? And what about those who quietly write or create on their own? Will they be at a disadvantage?

Positive thoughts about AI

In the past, we have always hoped for someone to help us with menial tasks, and that someone has arrived in the form of AI. In this interconnected world, we can expect to receive a lot of help, freeing up more time for ourselves.

Will governments of all countries need to issue a minimum wage to all humans in the future? When productivity is no longer so important, everyone must really think about what they want to do. With the extra time, how can we use it? In the future, working hours should be broken, and we should only have to work 4 hours a day, and the boss will have to send you home.

If this trend continues, as long as we maintain our curiosity about everything, do what we love, and unleash our creativity, we can focus our energy on food, the environment, and health. We can use our time for creating, reading, spending time with family, or on ourselves.

This AI is the culmination of all humanity. It has the information, consciousness, and language of every person in the world. It is also a part of the knowledge output that you produce, and you work with it.

How will we be different in the future? I want to think positively. While it can help us now, we should learn as much as we can. If some jobs are really going to be replaced in the future, I believe that all of humanity will be affected, and we will need to adjust to the new system. Perhaps it will not be as terrifying as we think.
